The Expanded Area

Collaboration with artist Mads Gamdrup

Installation, bronz bell, light sources

44 x 44  x 44 cm

Based on the historical and geographical location of the lighthouse as the westernmost point in Europe, artists Nils Viga Hausken and Mads Gamdrup invite the audience on a special journey. Their artwork “The Expanded Area” is designed as a structure. The exhibition consists of multicoloured sources of light combined with a high-gloss polished bell. The result is a widened rainbow spread throughout the room.

The ablaze bell reflects all the light and emerges as a bright element. The conscious work of the artists has the lighthouse and the presence of the audience as its key elements. In this context, the artists wish to broaden the physical space and turn it into an imaginary feeling, a state of mind in which the magic and the infinite can converge.
